I think my life is pretty boring right now. I go school, eat, mug, facebook and sleep. Hope everyone’s doing well so far.

Reunion Lunch

NYChoir exco went for reunion lunch after prac yesterday! Initially, I wanted a proper reunion dinner- one with Yusheng and xiaolongbaos and everything but then Hansi couldn’t make it in the evening and so we had a reunion lunch. This reunion lunch is specially for Hansi who will be celebrating New Year alone because his family is all the way at China.

After the lunch, it was a girls’ day out for Jesmine, Rachel and I! We toured around Singapore and I spent so much that I can cry. Worst of all, I spent a lot on food.

The biggest revelation I had this week is that I might really be sinking into depression, what with the amount of work and problems coming from everywhere. There are times when I feel as though home is no longer sanctuary and that school exudes a much safer feeling than home.

I swallowed my pride on Friday because I didn’t want to have any regrets and bombard myself with “what if’s”.

Okay, I should stop telling people on how depressing my life is and move on to the happier things in life!

CCA Bazaar on Wednesday! The choir booth was playing all sorts of KPop music from my iPod. Nicholas from Squash danced to GEE and it was ultra hilarious. We managed to recruit about 60 people!

Choir practice after CCA Bazaar and all of us were dead tired by then. But instead of going home, we celebrated Gabriel Chew’s 18th birthday! Again, I planned his birthday surprise but I wouldn’t say I succeeded this time. So the plan was for Olivia to randomly get mad at Gabriel for spending so much time with Hao Qi. After choir, Olivia stomped out of the room and went to Level 5 to emo.

Me: (trying to sound as though I was whispering but making sure that it was audible enough for Gabriel to hear) Do you know what happened to Oli?Jes: Yeah.. She told you as well?
Me: Yeah.
Gabriel: Where is she now?
Me: I don’t know, i think she mentioned the 5th floor or something.
Me: (whipped out phone and punched in some numbers. i wasn’t even talking to anyone on the phone) Where are you now?.. Okay, okay. You call me when you get home, ok?
Gab: WHERE IS SHE NOW?
Me: 5th floor i think. I don’t know what she’s doing there! Eh my mum just texted, i need to go off now. SEE YOU TOMORROW BYE.

The other choir members were waiting at the fountain area. Oli called me to signal that we could shout HAPPY BIRTHDAY. So, we shouted, OI GABRIEL HAPPY BIRTHDAY and we sang him the birthday song. He took the lift down and we gave him his present!

Simon’s birthday at Park Mall’s Fish & Co on Friday after choir prac!

I just knew that Simon is not the kind who will get tricked easily so I didn’t even bother to come up with a plan for him. Instead, we made him guess where we’re heading and he said, ‘SINGAPURA PLAZA’. Simon ordered beer but he turned red after one sip. Simon even texted all of us after the whole celebration and I saved that message to my “Open if feeling suicidal” folder because it was epic- he didn’t start the message with ‘HEY CHOIR’ and the content wasn’t anything related to what time the next choir practice is.

I don’t know why, but both Gabriel and Simon looked really happy on the day when we celebrated their birthday. I’d like to believe that it was the fact that we celebrated it as a choir and that’s why they’re really happy.

10 Things To Do When You’re Having The Blues

Wake up at your ‘happy’ time. If you’re a morning person, get up bright and early. If you’re a night person, get up at 5PM. This helps to keep your mood at an optimal level (:
Indulge. Always denying yourself of that glass of wine or pint of beer, the huge ass bar of chocolate or that 2 litres of Coke? Gulp it, then proceed to feel good that you have the power to allow yourself to feel good.
Engage. Proceed to organise an event you have always been looking forward to, such as bringing together 5 of your favourite people who have not met each other yet. At first meetings, you get to observe new chemistry. For all you know, you might become part of something truly exciting, like a new ‘coffee club’ or an email list brimming with inspiring ideas.
Do something positive. Call a friend you’ve been neglecting, or go to the SPCA to look at abandoned pets. Write an email to thank someone who made you feel happy. Do something for someone!
Practice ’smile therapy’. Ever watched Ally McBeal? In it, John, the resident wacko, believed that when you are down and really angry with the world, you should force yourself to smile. SMILE at the computer, smile in the mirror, smile at strangers, smile at your pillow. By working the facial muscles which allow you to smile, you inject positive vibes into your brain and slowly but surely, things will be fine.
Exercise. but not to throw yourself into exhaustion. Just do something that can lift your spirits a little, by taking a walk or going to fix your bike. Jog if it makes you happy, or do a little stretching to ‘remember’ your body. Exercise, as long as it makes you feel good.
Remember. Remember the days you are happy, the days you felt free. Recall the most recent happy memory you had: For me, it was tasting the best ramen in the world just a few days ago. Then promise yourself to try and live every minute as best as you can, feeling glad that you had this memory and trying to create new memories to match or surpass this (:
Clean. Throw away everything you do not need. And then repeat. Throw and overthrow, everything in sight. Keep doing this until you have almost nothing left and make plans to get new items of things you need.
Take time to feel sad. Watch the saddest MTV you know, or listen to ‘your song’ with an ex-boyfriend. Look at photos of your grandaunt who passed away, or remember an uncle who cared for you. Then remember that that was your past and strive to make good use of your time now. After taking time to feel sad, make time to feel glad.
Never wait. Never wait for the someone you’ve given chances over and over, never wait for people to change. Never wait for opportunities to happen but instead, make it happen on your own. Never ever wait, because it never will happen.

Depression

If I were to sum up my week in one word, then I guess, it’ll have to be ‘depressed’.

School ended early on Monday and I thought I could afford the time to have a heart to heart girly talk with my choir mates. After that talk, I thought I’ve straightened out my thoughts and felt much more ready to face the world.

These days, all I care about is going for choir practices. Practices promise me so much fun and comfort. It’s like, whenever I step into the choir room, all my problems disappear and the world seems to be a much better place to live in.

I ate a tonne of sinful food today in hope that it will somehow drown my sorrows and reduce my depression level. After one scoop of Haggen Daaz’s Cookies Chocolate and Double Chicken PL, I still feel the same, if not, worst.

Let’s hope that the world will be a better place after this weekend.
